More than 100 clubgoers are reported killed as the result of a pyrotechniques display gone bad Friday morning at the Lame Horse nightclub in the Russian city of Perm, according to various Russian news reports.
The clubgoers, among approximately 200 celebrants, were said to be mostly club employees and their families celebrating the club's eighth anniversary in business.
Is this Russia's version of the 2003 Great White concert tragedy in Rhode Island or the 2004 Republica de la Cromagnon disaster in Buenos Aires? Early reports from the scene describe the causes of the deaths as smoke inhalation and crowd crush.
In addition, as with the tragedies at The Station nightclub in Rhode Island and at the E2 nightclub in Chicago, the incidents were recorded in graphic detail.
There will be more news and commentary from Crowdsafe.com as this story develops.
