The Raspberries
{ Scene Pavilion }

Sunday, July 17, 2005 7:48:04 AM
Promoter: House of Blues
Security: Willo
Where: Cleveland, OH USA
When: 07/15/05
Stage: outdoors

Standard recipe for trouble: Very few ushers (I counted 8) were in place. General admission seating at the top of the "High School Stadium" style bleachers. Lightweight plasic chairs made up the reserved seating near the stage but were moved so that fans were unable to find seats or exit quickly. Despite the area (West Bank of Cleveland's Flats) consisting primarily of bars, alcohol was being sold right up to the end of the show despite the many fights and generally ugly tone of the crowd. The venue has one entrance with two aisles of entry which means ~2400 people per aisle. The weather very hot and humid which added to the crowd's foul mood. Security seemed more concerned with standing at the perimeter than with controlling/preventing any of the altercations which took place in the stands. I'll skip attending any other shows at this venue where the almighty buck seems more important than crowd safety or customer service.
